How to access?
Option 1: Download the dataset
Our data sharing agreements with the the holders of some of the source data do not allow us to share directly the full ExPoSE datasets. Namely, we cannot share individual-level data originating from the Health Survey for England, the DHS program and the SAGE surveys. The remaining data (including 124472 harmonized individual records from 7 population surveys conducted in South Africa between 2003/2004 and 2017) are available for download from Datafirst Open Data portal at the University of Cape Town and are also referenced in the UK Data Service reShare portal.
The content of this restricted dataset, is detailed in its Codebook.
Option 2: Explore the datset in the dashboard
The ExPoSE dashboard allows you to explore a subset of the full dataset (including all records and a subset of variables) and conduct basic analyses, such a estimate trends and calculate groups statistics) directly on your browser.Currently, the subset includes 62 variables, and other will be included in future updates. The content of this subset is detailed in its Codebook.
Option 3: Recreate the full datset
If you need to access the full dataset and conduct your custom analyses beyond thso allowed by the dashboard, a third option is to access the source data directly (which implies, for some of them, to sign a formal data sharing agreement) and repeat the harmonisation process we have conducted. The references for accessing the data are listed here, and the harmonisation code we have developed is available from our gitHub repository.
