Biosketch
Professor Jennifer Mindell is an academic public health physician with experience in epidemiological research, public health advocacy, teaching, general practice, and health promotion. A major interest is in policies that affect determinants of health and inequalities. She has much experience of health examination surveys in the UK, Europe, Latin America, and Africa. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Director of the London Health Observatory, and led health impact assessments (HIAs) of the London Mayor’s Transport and other strategies. She also works on transport, health and inequalities.
She chaired the UK Faculty of Public Health’s Health Improvement Committee and sat on the FPH Health Policy Committee; is the theme lead for health of the UCL Transport Institute; is Co-Chair (Science) of the Transport and Health Science Group; and is Founding Editor of the new, award-winning Journal of Transport and Health. She was also very involved nationally in tobacco control for many years.
