Biosketch

Ed Fottrell is Professor of Epidemiology & Global Health at University College London and Director of the UCL Centre for Global Non-communicable Diseases. With training in medical science, public health and epidemiology, Ed is experienced in community health measurement, intervention development and evaluation in Africa and Asia. Prof. Fottrell leads several research projects to describe and respond to the burden of non-communicable disease in resource-poor settings. He is also a member of the WHO Verbal Autopsy Reference Group and has published extensively on verbal autopsy methods for understanding causes of death, with particular focus on developing, applying and evaluating the InterVA method.

Ed leads teaching in research methods and evidence in global health for UCL MSc Global Health and Development students and supervises several PhD students on a wide range of global health topics.
