What do we want to do?

We want to explore health transitions in South Africa and England using cardiovascular disease risk as a case study. More in details we want to...

Estimate Trends

What are the population trends in CVD risk in South Africa since its first national health survey in 1998? How do these compare to those observed in England over the same period?

Explain Trends

To what extent are these trends explained by demographic, behavioural, social, environmental, health-related and/or other factors?

Harmonise datasets

ExPoSE will produce a harmonised dataset compiling microdata from national surveys measuring CVD risk factors in South Africa for others to use in future work.

Share code

We will make available Stata and R code used to harmonise the survey data for South Africa and England.

Foster collaboration

The ExPoSE working group includes collaborators from academia, civil society, government and the health sector.

Support policymakers

We will seek to make our findings easily accessible to policymakers and the public to maximise impact.
